Dubai Police recently cracked down on a daring heist, arresting a gang of four Ethiopian nationals who stole Dh3 million from a company in the Naif area. The well-planned burglary, which took place over a weekend in February, saw the thieves break into a safe, steal the money, and even remove the office’s security camera drive to cover their tracks.
How the Crime Unfolded
According to authorities, the masked suspects broke into the office at around 4 AM. The crime was only discovered when an Asian employee arrived on Monday morning to open the office and found it in complete disarray. Realizing what had happened, he immediately alerted Dubai Police.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Dubai Police wasted no time in launching a full-scale investigation. A specialised team, including officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), forensic experts, and duty officers from Naif Police Station, used advanced tracking techniques to locate the suspects. Their efforts led them to a residence in Dubai, where the gang was arrested following a raid.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime, admitting they had split the stolen cash among themselves. While a portion of the money was recovered, they revealed that some funds had been transferred to their home country through illegal money transfer channels.
A Warning for Businesses
Following the incident, Dubai Police have urged businesses to enhance their security measures and remain vigilant. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to public safety and their determination to bring criminals to justice swiftly.
This case highlights Dubai’s zero-tolerance approach to crime and the efficiency of its law enforcement agencies in tackling serious offenses. Businesses are encouraged to report any suspicious activities promptly to prevent such incidents in the future.
