Bob Mackie Joins Cunard’s “Transatlantic Fashion Week” Aboard Queen Mary 2

This fall, Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 will set sail with an extraordinary lineup for its famed “Transatlantic Fashion Week” voyage, departing New York on October 31. Among the highlights is the presence of legendary fashion and costume designer Bob Mackie, whose dazzling career has shaped the worlds of fashion, television, and pop culture for more than five decades.

Bob Mackie’s Iconic Sketches and Designs Onboard

Guests on the seven-night sailing will enjoy an exclusive opportunity to preview and bid on a selection of Mackie’s original fashion sketches, offered through Julien’s Auctions. These rare, hand-signed mixed medium illustrations capture Mackie’s genius across eras:

A full-length figure in early 20th century evening wear, complete with turban headdress, tasseled cape, and jeweled bangles. A 1920s-inspired flapper gown paired with a feather-trimmed coat and jeweled cloche hat, merging the decade’s square lines with Mackie’s signature 1980s tailoring. A 1930s Old Hollywood-inspired chevron beaded evening gown, finished with a draped cape that embodies screen siren glamour.

In addition, guests will get to see a rotating daily exhibit of Mackie’s celebrity costumes, including:

Cher’s custom nude-illusion iridescent halter-neck costume from her 1978 television special. Tina Turner’s flame-motif rhinestone and sequin bodysuit with a fringe skirt, worn in 1977. Carol Burnett’s custom lamé gown with an exposed back, designed for her opening monologue in 1972.

These treasures will also be part of “Julien’s Bold Luxury Auction: Bob Mackie, Stage Glamour & The Couture Edit,” running online at JuliensAuctions.com from October 27 through December 3.

Exclusive Onboard Programming

The voyage will feature an inspiring program of events celebrating Mackie’s career and fashion’s enduring influence:

Q&A session with Bob Mackie, Darren Julien, and Martin Nolan of Julien’s Auctions, sharing behind-the-scenes stories of celebrity fashion and collecting. A special screening of Mackie’s documentary, “Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion,” introduced personally by the designer.

As Julien noted:

“Bob Mackie’s influence on fashion and pop culture is truly unmatched. Bringing his iconic designs aboard Queen Mary 2 is not only a celebration of his artistry, but also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors and fans around the world.”

A Fashion Week at Sea

The celebration doesn’t end there. Christian Siriano, another trailblazing designer, will present his first-ever runway show at sea, adding a spectacular modern twist to the voyage. International supermodel Coco Rocha will also host her very first Coco Rocha Model Camp at sea, bringing her expertise and mentorship to aspiring models onboard.

A Celebration of Style and Legacy

From Mackie’s Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated legacy to Siriano’s contemporary vision and Rocha’s supermodel influence, Cunard’s Transatlantic Fashion Week 2025 promises to be an unforgettable journey. Guests will not only cross the Atlantic but also step into a rare world where fashion history, artistry, and innovation converge — all aboard one of the most iconic ships ever built.
